Border Abbeys and Abbotsford House.

Explore this quieter corner of Scotland where Melrose Abbey, Dryburgh and Jedburgh Abbey are now amazing ruins with a rich history from the 12th century. They suffered through the years and were caught up in conflicts of the Middle Ages and the Wars of Independence. Take a walk around the beautiful restored gardens then enjoy the unique library and collections of Abbotsford House – the home of Sir Walter Scott.

On the Outlander trail.

Take your pick from many Outlander film locations. The historic village of 17th century Culross  became fictional Craigsmuir. and Blackness Castle on the River Forth stood in for Jack Randall’s Fort William. Most impressive are Drummond Castle Gardens where Claire and Jamie explored the Palace of Versailles or Doune Castle, the now famous Castle Leoch.

Some of the best malt whiskies are created around the border between the Lowlands and Highlands. Take a fascinating tour and tasting at the impressive Deanston on the River Teith. Enjoy the whisky aroma at the Auchentoshan warehouse.
