On 15th July 2020 the hotels and Bed and Breakfasts of Scotland opened once again for visitors. Sadly Sublime Scotland had no tour guests to show around but we set off on our travels to see what we had been missing during lockdown! Exploring Scotland is what we love to do.
North Coast 500
The North Coast 500 (NC500) is a wonderful scenic drive around the north of Scotland. For years this was an undiscovered corner of Scotland with some of the least populated areas of Europe. More recently the route has become known worldwide for the stunning scenery, wild coastlines and dramatic mountains. Take a tour with us and we will show you the best of this fantastic road trip. This is the most relaxing way to enjoy this special corner of Scotland as we will take you to the best places.
Ardvreck Castle
Our short trip in summer 2020 took us firstly to the Black Isle on the East Coast of the Highlands. This farming area is often missed by travellers rushing onwards to the north but there is so much more to enjoy here. Watching for Dolphins in the Moray Firth is a great way to spend an hour or so. Next we travelled through the wild north Highlands and explored the fishing village of Lochinver on the west. Following another great day we arrived at the bustling ferry port of Ullapool. Along the way we enjoyed exploring the golden sands of Achmelvich Beach which is just half an hour along a very narrow road from Lochinver. The mountains of Suilven, Canisp and others could be seen from the dramatic ruins of Ardvreck Castle.
Drive from Lochinver to Achiltibuie
Driving from Lochinver to Achiltibuie with the views of the Summer Isles was exciting but not for the feinted hearted because it has many twists and turns and narrow bridges. Enjoying views of the stunning outline of famous Stac Polaidh was wonderful.
Finally, we enjoyed an evening stroll along the harbour in Ullapool and watched the fishing boats returning home in the fading sunlight. This is the one of the best places to enjoy fish and the Seafood Shack did not disappoint! We hope to visit again soon and next time will take our tour guests with us because this is always so much more fun!
